Nightingale - Chronic Lung Disease Definitions

The definition of Chronic Lung Disease (CLD) is based on an algorithm that was tested with hospital data and is more accurate than Oxygen at 36 Weeks.

CLD is coded "Yes" if the infant is in your center at 36 weeks post menstrual age and Oxygen at 36 Weeks is answered "Yes" (including infants who were transferred before the Date of Week 36 and were readmitted) or if Oxygen at 36 Weeks is missing and Oxygen at Discharge is answered "Yes"; or, if the infant is discharged home or transferred and not readmitted on or after 34 weeks but before the Date of Week 36 and Oxygen at Discharge is answered "Yes."

CLD is coded "No" if the infant is in your center at 36 weeks post menstrual age and Oxygen at 36 Weeks is answered "No" (including infants who were transferred before the Date of Week 36 and were readmitted) or if Oxygen at 36 Weeks is missing and Oxygen at Discharge is answered "No"; or, if the infant is discharged home or transferred and not readmitted and Oxygen at Discharge is answered "No."

Otherwise CLD is coded "Unknown."
